Dr. Fletcher attended Dalhousie Medical School and completed Residency Training in Orthopedic Surgery in 1998 at McGill University. She specialized in Sport Medicine at the University of Calgary under the mentorship of Nick Mohtadi, Cy Frank, and Robert Hollinshead in 1998-1999 where she completed a Fellowship in Surgery of the Shoulder and Knee. She accepted a position within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1999.
As of October 1, 2022, she has changed her Orthopaedic Surgery practice to a purely clinical one. She will continue to care for patients with Musculoskeletal and Sport Medicine problems but will no longer be performing surgery. She will continue to accept referrals for all Orthopaedic, Musculoskeletal and Sport Medicine problems including Sport Concussion, acute knee and shoulder injuries and other urgent musculoskeletal injuries from Primary Care, Emergency, Urgent Care, After Hour Clinics and Physiotherapy Clinics.
Dr Fletcher has been involved in Sport Medicine both locally and nationally. She is served on the Board of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine for seven years and is a Past President of CASEM. She is currently on the Credentials Committee for CASEM that organizes the National Diploma in Sport Medicine exam. Aside from her Orthopedic Surgery practice, she runs a Sport Concussion Clinic for young athletes in Saint John and surrounding region with the assistance of Stewart Munroe and Gillian Gilmore who are Athletic Therapists at Kenval Rehab.
Locally, she was the Orthopedic Surgeon for the Calgary Flames AHL team. She has been an Orthopedic Surgery Advisor for the Quebec Major Junior Saint John Seadogs. She has given many community talks on Concussion and ACL Injury Prevention and is interested in continuing that community education for youth sports and school sports groups.
