Dr Eva Gusnowski, MSc MD, FRCSC Shoulder Reconstruction and Sports Medicine Dr. Eva Gusnowski attended medical school at the University of British Columbia after completing a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Molecular Genetics and a Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Alberta. She completed her residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Calgary in 2020.
Dr. Gusnowski attended subspecialty fellowship training in Shoulder Surgery at the Hand and Upper Limb Center at Western University followed by Sports Medicine and Upper Extremity Reconstruction at the Pan Am Clinic at the University of Manitoba. During this time she also completed a Master of Science in Surgery investigating the protective capacity of various forms of handwraps used by combat athletes during training.
Dr. Gusnowski has an extensive research background, having completed two Master of Science degrees. She has presented at multiple national and international conferences and was awarded the Dr. Stephen S. Burkhart Shoulder Innovation Research Award in 2019. Her current research interests include tendon transfers for massive rotator cuff tears, fixation methods for ACL reconstruction as well as interventions for injury prevention in combat athletes. She is also on the Arthroscopy Association of Canada Executive Committee as part of the Research Executive.
Dr. Gusnowski’s elective practice centers around:
- Soft tissue reconstruction of the knee
- Arthroscopic knee surgery
- Arthroscopic shoulder surgery including rotator cuff repair and management of instability
- Surgical management of massive rotator cuff tears
- Shoulder arthroplasty
